ETTU and Dyn sign broadcast deal through 2028: Seven cameras, four cameras, and a content clause built for the German market

The European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) announced a major broadcast partnership with Dyn, the German subscription streaming platform, running through 2028: exclusive live rights in Germany, non-exclusive in Austria and Switzerland — the DACH market. Dyn operates Dyn Sport (audience-facing) and Dyn Media (technology and production), claims more than 3,000 live matches per season, and previously produced table tennis documentaries including "Timo Boll – Der letzte Aufschlag" and "Blau & Schwarz". The portfolio covers the European Individual Championships in Ljubljana, October 11–18, 2026, with five events including mixed doubles; the Europe Top 16 Cup in Montreux, January 28–31, 2027; the European Team Championships in Porto, October 17–24, 2027, with 24 men's and 24 women's teams; and selected stages of the ETTU Champions League, with men's quarterfinals on January 12–13 and March 5–6, 2027, and the HYLO-branded Final Four in Saarbrücken on May 8–9, 2027, plus the women's Final Four on May 1–2, 2027. The most consequential clause: Dyn commits to showing matches featuring German players and teams, with non-German matches mentioned only as a possibility. That is an editorial rule inside a commercial contract — it does not govern athlete selection, but it governs who is visible. It creates a guaranteed-visibility tier for German players inside a European broadcast product, which over time may widen the commercial gap between DACH-based and other European professionals. Two further signals matter. First, the 2028 scope is far narrower: only the Europe Top 16 Cup and the Champions League Men Final Four are named, suggesting an option structure rather than firm three-year continuity. Second, ETTU is running a portfolio-of-markets strategy — the Dyn deal in DACH alongside an L'Équipe renewal in France — rather than depending on a single pan-European package. The partnership changes distribution, not results. It does not alter the competitive balance of world table tennis, where China remains dominant. What it changes is the visibility infrastructure of the European second group, and it does so around a post-Timo Boll transition in which no active German player is named anywhere in the announcement.
