Peter Uihlein no-shows at Q-School: When a LIV golfer needs a new map

Peter Uihlein was disqualified from the opening stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School after failing to show up for the third round at Huddersfield Golf Club. He had opened with rounds of 74 and 73, sitting at seven-over-par in a tie for 66th, well outside the top 19 who would advance. The 37-year-old LIV Golf player had finished third in consecutive LIV events in Riyadh and Adelaide earlier in the 2026 season, making his Q-School struggle even more striking. His decision to enter Q-School reflects the uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf and the need for players to secure alternative pathways. Uihlein joined LIV in 2026 and plays for RangeGoats GC, but LIV events do not award Official World Golf Ranking points, which has left his ranking severely diminished and forced him to return to the qualifying process. He was not alone: fellow LIV players Luis Masaveu and Ballester were also in the field. The contrast between his strong LIV results and his poor Q-School performance raises questions about the competitive value of LIV's 54-hole, no-cut format compared with traditional 72-hole stroke play. With LIV's future uncertain and his age at 37, the failed Q-School attempt narrows Uihlein's options. The no-show, while understandable after falling so far behind, creates a minor reputational risk if he seeks to return to traditional tours later. He may need sponsor exemptions or another Q-School attempt in a future season to rebuild his career.
